Identity
What a Certificate of Analysis shows
A general explanation of the fields typically found on an analytical report. No result is implied for any specific product or lot.
- Product identity
- The compound designation the report was issued against.
- Batch / lot number
- The specific production lot the sample was drawn from.
- Test methods
- The analytical methods used, such as chromatographic or mass-spectrometric analysis.
- Reported results
- The values the laboratory measured, reported against the method used.
- Date of analysis
- When the sample was tested, which fixes the report to a point in time.
- Issuing laboratory
- The independent laboratory that performed the analysis and issued the report.
